Update # 10

This is my second attempt to write out the thoughts that are rolling around in my head, not funny. I typed quite a bit then looked down and it was all gone.. Oh well sometimes you should always think twice, and this will be one of those times. I got a free one-night stay in Gig Harbor on December 30, not free but I got away. I got an infection in the right expander and it had to be removed. In ten weeks or so, it can be replaced if I decided to do that. It is disappointing, seems like I have had my share of disappointments. Come summer I hope I am ready to keep up with everyone. How many times can a body be opened, before it opens by itself? Kind of feel like the old Mervyn's Commercial OPEN OPEN OPEN!!!! That is what happening with me.

The girls are all OK and mouthy as ever. Kim is standing over me right now asking what do I think I'm doing?? Kim has a new job at Wells Fargo as a Teller and she loves it. Now everybody run out and get yourself or child an account referred by Kimberlee the Westside branch she'll be rewarded. Yea she already got me, Kendall and Charlee. She spends more time with me now that her hunny is long hauling. No more sleeping alone she gripes as much if not more than Chuck. Speaking of Chuck, he is a happy and warm in Yuma, Az. He is keeping himself busy putting up a privacy fence,
how much privacy does a man need????? He is already 2100 miles away.
Kendall is zooming right through her 11Th grade and is really into it, imagine that. Her grades are good. Charlee bit me on the finger.

That is for you Rachel Williams. Charlee is in Driver Ed, driving as if she owns the entire road even if you think it is yours. Lord help us all.
Grandma what can I say about Grandma, we so love her don't we??? She will start PT next week on her shoulder, hope it works out and she gets more motion, movement.

Carolyn made me the neatest thing with photos of my girls in it is super.

Took John, Kendall, Blake and Danielle up to Mt Rainier last weekend. I sat in the car for the most part with Lincoln(dog). They had some fun.... Got tired out having to walk up just to slide down. When I saw Blake bite it a few times, I settled for staying on pavement or in the car.

Went to visit Larry and his girls just after X-Mas it was nice to see them all, they have really grown up, Stephanie looks just like Grandma Joyce. Full of energy. Grandma Jean just made me a steak got to go!!!!!

Update !**!

Alright I know it has been quite a while since I have written, sorry about that. Sometimes there is nothing worth talking about. Chemo was finished in August an all seems well. I had surgery on Friday the 20Th of Nov, the port and expander were removed, the expander was replaced. My hair is only about 1 inch. Now I will start having the skin stretched several times until I have reached the size I will be happy with. I'm thinking Feb/March 2010.

All the girls are fine. I will tell you they are just about grown weird to look at them and know their time has or will be coming quickly for being on their own. Kimberlee is working and going to school. The others are in school. I know part of the reason I have done well is because the kids kept me running. Now the holidays are just around the corner, something else to keep us busy busy. Signing off now.

Those Larsen Girls!

She did it, all by herself. I am so proud of Kimberlee, the graduation was short and sweet, but one that will be remembered by me forever. The BBQ went great, we played the slide shows of the girls Kim and Ray it was super. Good food, ice cream, cake and the folks who took the time to share it with us, thank you so much.We are so sad when we send them off to kindergarten, we are once again emotionally hit when they are heading out on their own. I hope that Kimberlee makes the best of what she has before her, I know she has grown up to be a wonderful young lady and we love her very much. Kimberlee will start college in the fall in the dental program.

Kendall hit the blue skies with Rachel and her family heading for the Country Music Festival in Nashville Tennessee. She ad a great flight and has the perfect hotel room there is a mall in the resort. She ran into Charlie Pride but didn't know who he was, that too bad. I told her to go find him and get his autograph for me, she said send a picture to me I forgot what he looks like. She off and running with the autograph thing they were with Carrie Underwood today. They have tons of things to do while they are there. Grace Land, Dolly World evening concerts every night, shopping, what more could a girl want. She will return home Monday with lots of goodies I'm sure.

Charlee is hanging home getting ready for the school year to end. Hopeful she will be ready for High School a big change, everything counts from here on out.

ANOTHER UPDATE !!!

Yep its been a while since I have written, sorry about that. Summer is right around the corner, can't wait for that sunshine.
I have started the 12 week treatment chemo. This is a different medication that I will get once a week, 11 to go. I thought this would be wrapped up in June I was wrong, chemo will last until August. I will have two more surgeries, the Dr punctured my spacer and it now has to be removed and replaced, that will not be until after chemo has been completed. Looks as though everything will stretch out through Feb 2010.

Grandma has had her share of issues too. Her shoulder has torn again, she will need another surgery. She is very disappointed about this. She worked so hard to do everything the Dr said and still didn't work. They have not scheduled that yet, will keep you posted though.

Miss Kendall will be taking a trip to Tennessee the Country Music Awards June 10 with her buddy Rachel. Make A Wish has made all the arrangements. Can't wait til they come back with pictures. I told Kendall to go to Dolly World and get her mom some boobs. They will get to go back stage with a few of the singers, they are so excited. Rachel is on her last treat at this time, radiation for ten days and she should be in the clear thank the lord.

Kimberlee did it.She will graduate on JUNE 7 at the Tacoma Dome, we are having a BBQ the Saturday before. She has really grown up, This is when I as a parent looks back, hoping that I raised her to the best of my ability. I am so proud of her.

7th Update March 29, 2009

Chemo was on Monday the 23rd. I was graciously escorted by my buddy and sister in law Cindy. She will go any ware for a photo opportunity. We got there at 10:00 got started with meds about 11:30 finished up at 3:30 or so. It wasn't that bad, I have felt pretty good this week except for some heartburn, hot flashes, a small amount of nausea. Can't complain too much. Cindy was great company she went to the mall and brought back a cinnamon roll yum yum. The nurses said to go ahead and eat one every time I come for chemo. I had lots of company with the other patients. They will surely have to cheer up cause I will not sit and pout with them, we're all in the same boat I will get them smiling. Ellen's on at 11:00 thank you Ellen for cheering me up during chemo. Cindy took pictures of my new Ellen cut with the Ellen show in the shot. By the time we were done and ready to go everyone knew we were scrap booking this stuff the nurses even gave me stuff the next day to add to the book. I will have 7 more treatments to go, every other week. With plenty of visits in between for physical therapy, Breast Dr and chemo follow ups.
Stacey has fixed the hair again and it looks super thank you Stace.......

Charlee is turning big 15 on the 30th. Seems that you blink a few times next thing you know you're babies are darn near grown, scary, can we just freeze dry them. I didn't say clone I said freeze dry, time flies. She is playing tennis and really seems to enjoy the sport. She had a game and didn't hit one ball, but she will I'm sure in time.

Grandma is still hitting physical therapy every week and she is waiting to regain some strength in her arm. Her and I should be doing exercises with our arms so we can get more movement. Its been tough on her not being as active as she was before all this surgery. She deserves a vacation maybe we'll all get the chance to take a break after this stuff is all done.

I am going to be brief on this next paragraph. Kendalls great family friend Rachel whom has spend the last few months hanging out with us has started chemo for Hodgkin's Disease, she called to tell me as I was having an appointment in my chemo Dr office, blew me away, I still want to pinch pinch, it unbelievable. She has a rough but do-able road ahead of her, she is strong and will come through with flying colors. I would never ask that anyone go through this, her and I will prevail. I wonder all the time now what the odds of this happening are, you tell me? Just double the prayers for her and her parents please. She's not alone and nor am I. This is not something you do the buddy system with, but it has happened. We have big plans ahead for the two of us. This young lady was suppose to do her volunteer work that same week she was hospitalized, she was admitted to the pediatrics oncology floor, where she was to volunteer. She attends college full time with a 4.0 GPA and is 16 years old. AMAZING. She will resume school in the fall, for now she will focus on getting better. Love you lots kiddo.

By the way check this snow stuff out Blake is enjoying a ride in the snow!

Happy Birthday John!!!!!!

A few pics I took before the Party. John picked up his license at 8:30 am at the DOL. He was not first in line, but he is finally free. WATCH OUT MIKE! John made aspecial trip over that morning, was grandma surprised. Kendall had to get in the photo too, just look for her in the back. John had to come back in when Kendall told him BE SAFE! Boy do those cousins love each other.

This was not easy getting everyone together.

Happy Holidays!!!

1924: The Ethics of Friendship

1924: The Ethics of Friendship
It is not enough to make friends; you must know how to keep them. When you make a new friend whose friendship you value and wish to keep, learn his idiosyncracies and respect them. Learn his little peculiarities of manner and bear with him. Force yourself to be conscious always of the fact that while he has faults of which you are aware, you have faults of which he is aware. The ideal friend overlooks these little things and looks only for the big.
Doubt and suspicion are fatal to friendship. A friend worth having is a friend worth trusting. In time of doubt there should be a frank explanation. A true friend will not listen to criticism from others regarding his friend; will never gossip about him; will protect him from slander; will refuse to hear or believe evil of him.
There should be absolute sincerity in friendship. If your friend has done something or said something of which you disapprove, go to him and talk to him about the matter. You are false to your friendship if you talk to others about it.
If you want to correct a friend for some mistake he has made, do so with all the grace and tact you would use in correcting a stranger. No one resents being corrected. It is the manner of the person who makes the correction that is usually resented. Your friend is certainly entitled to as much consideration as you show your acquaintances.
Too many of us feel that we can take liberties with our friends that we would not dare to take with strangers. Handle your friend's book as carefully as you would the book of a new acquaintance, more carefully than you would handle your own. Do not feel that because it is with your friend that you have an engagement that you can be half an hour late. Real friendship is founded on courtesy, kindness, and understanding.
